One of the stages of this path is Calabria, and among its silent and wild lands lies Campotenese: an immense green expanse surrounded by the peaks of the Pollino National Park. It is a place that seems perfectly designed for stopping, breathing, and listening.
Encountering a Pilgrim It was here that our B&B, Casale Trifoglio, had the honor of welcoming a pilgrim traveling the St. Anthony’s Way. From his stories, we immediately perceived that Campotenese was not just a stop for him; it was a gateway. It is a point where the spiritual path intertwines with the most authentic nature. Sitting on the veranda with hot coffee in our hands, we weren’t just listening to his words; we could feel the serenity that accompanied them—that peace born from letting go of routine and surrendering to the journey.
The Meaning of the Journey Embarking on a spiritual journey means crossing unknown places, welcoming whatever happens along the road, and allowing oneself to be surprised by people, time, and situations. This state of “positive alertness” awakens us from the numbness of our comfort zones and brings us back to a deeper awareness that we often lose without noticing. Many pilgrims share that, step by step, the senses awaken: the paths, the ancient villages, and the locals who offer simple and kind hospitality. All of this changes you and puts things into perspective, leaving room for wonder and gratitude.
Fabrizio’s Testimony Today we want to share the story of Fabrizio, who arrived from Piedmont and set out on the Way of Saint Anthony in March 2026. His emotion was palpable: an energy built from climbs, the silence of the valleys, sharing, and encounters with the Sacred. I feel deeply grateful to have met him. His humility, simplicity, and gratitude stayed with us; it is as if he left a fragment of his light here at Casale Trifoglio.
