The Pollino and Orsomarso massifs tower above here: from its highest peaks, you can admire a unique panorama, from the Tyrrhenian to the Ionian Sea. Its symbol is the Pollino Bosnian Pine.

The area covered by Masistro Park is among the most interesting in the entire Pollino National Park. There are many reasons why it is so unique and why we’ve included it among the UNESCO Global Geopark sites.
Located at 1,250 meters above sea level, it consists of three large plateaus, evidence of three karst sinkholes. Of particular interest are the Piano di Mezzo, which forms a beautiful lake that is present year-round except in summer, and the majestic Piano Grande.

Experience among the centuries-old beech trees and adventure park: Masistro Park, just a few kilometers from the Casale, is a protected area and a UNESCO World Heritage site where you can stroll and enjoy a picnic with family or friends. The Piano di Mezzo is very evocative, with its romantic heart-shaped lake that is present in all seasons of the year except summer.
You can also book one of the unique experiences in the woods, such as the terracotta workshop, where you can create objects with your own hands, or the prehistoric day, where an expert will guide you on a journey through time, demonstrating ancient techniques and tools.
The Astronomical Evening is also very interesting: a journey through the wonders of the sky, observing the giants of the firmament. It is a small artificial lake located in the Pantano area of the municipality of Mormanno. It was created using the waters of the Battendiero River as a dam for a hydroelectric power plant. The lake is 780 meters long and 200 meters wide and is nestled in the fascinating natural setting of the mountains of the Pollino National Park.
A destination for trout (brown and rainbow trout), carp, and eel fishermen, Lake Pantano is home to important bird species, some migratory, such as the great cormorant and the black-winged stilt, and others sedentary, such as the gray heron and the mallard duck, all in a stunning setting.
The village of Morano Calabro, in the heart of the Pollino National Park in the province of Cosenza, is one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy.
The town is laid out like a veritable nativity scene, with houses nestled in a hilltop fortress, reaching up to the panoramic summit where the village of Morano itself and the ruins of the castle stand. Morano Castle has Norman origins, and from its heights, it’s easy to understand why Morano is nicknamed the “Nativity Scene of Pollino”: its simple architecture, red roofs, narrow streets, small squares, and arches leading down to the San Nicola district are evident.
